Sika Thailand collaborates with the local community and the Nakhon Nayok Provincial Office of Natural Resources and Environment to plant trees and build check dams. The initiative aims to restore soil moisture, prevent wildfires and floods, and rehabilitate the natural ecosystem. The company is committed to continuously increasing the number of check dams in line with Sika’s operational capacity.

Check Dams for Ecosystem Restoration and Value Creation from Industrial Waste
Check dams play a vital role in preserving soil and plant moisture. They help distribute moisture across both sides of the stream, reduce the flow velocity during the rainy season, and prevent sediment from being washed downstream. By slowing down the water flow, check dams maximize the use of rainwater and enhance groundwater recharge. This brings direct benefits to local ecosystems and agriculture, especially in drought-prone areas.

Under this initiative, Sika Thailand utilized a total of 41.74 tons of concrete blocks—originally used for factory testing—as a substitute for natural stones in dam construction. These blocks were strategically placed to form a barrier that slows water flow and effectively traps sediment.

Repurposing leftover concrete for dam structures not only contributes to sustainable ecosystem restoration but also exemplifies resource efficiency and industrial waste reduction. This aligns with the principles of the circular economy and supports the company’s commitment to sustainable development.
