We actively engage in sustainable with “Building Moisture Retention Dam (Check Dam) Project”
The degradation of the ecological the reason form to encroach on forests and river source thatthe problem of flooding during rainy season, water shortage in summer and climate change. Therefore, it is necessary to accelerate recovery the watershed forest and to be ecological diversity to reduce violence and alleviate problems that may occur in all forms.
A check dam is a structure built to block the path of water and normally obstructs small brooks in areas of headwater or sloping land. When water currents are strong, the dam delays the water flow and retains sediment to stop it from running into the lower watershed portion. This is a superb method of conserving soil and water. The soil absorbs the water spreading moisture to both banks and forest-fire preventing plants, fast growing ones, and evergreen ones can be planted to revive the stream headwater making it greener.
Sika Thailand realizes in accordance with the water conservation and management initiatives of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Therefore, we have organized “Building Moisture Retention Dam (Check Dam) Project” and on 24 July 2020, Mrs Somjai Jarusilawong, Operation Director and 32 Sika Staffs built 3 check dams at Ban Nong Jeong community, Nong Yang Suea Subdistrict, Muak Lek District Saraburi.
This project uses Sika concrete cube 17.60 tons, used for testing process at factory, instead of stone to block the waterway and retains sediment by lining up into a wall. In which the cement is used as a material for making weir to help restore nature and It is also to use of waste materials to the most benefit as well.
