High Performance Mid-Range Concrete Water Reducer

SikaPlast R 8189 is a formulated liquid admixture tailored for making superior and durable concrete, with special additives incorporated in the formulation to facilitate placing and finishing. SikaPlast R 8189 is a powerful plasticizer which disperses and deflocculates cement particles while delaying the hydration process, thereby retarding the initial and final set. It can be used to improve workability without the addition of extra water, or to allow reductions in the free water content. Due to improved dispersion of the cement particles the process of hydration proceeds under the optimum conditions, leading to improved strength characteristics with or without reduction in free water.  SikaPlast R 8189 is compatible with all type of Portland cements meeting recognized international standards. Usage

  • Generally, various types of concrete where set retardation and superior performance are required
  • Improving quality of conventionally placed concrete and pumped concrete.

Application Information

Dispensing

SikaPlast R 8189 can be added into the mixing water or can be added to the wet concrete after the mixing water has been added. The addition of SikaPlast R 8189 to a dry concrete mix is not recommended. A separate dispenser and feed line must be used.

Consumption

Recommended dosage

SikaPlast R 8189 is recommended for use at a dosage rate of 300-600ml per 100 kg of cementitious materials. The optimum dosage of SikaPlast R 8189 is dependent on various factors including materials and conditions that would be experienced at site. Variations in the job conditions and concrete making materials employed may require dosage rates outside the recommended range. Consult Sika representative for assistance in determining the rate dosage.
