Retarding type concrete improving admixture

SikaPlast R 8309 is a ready-to-use liquid admixture for making better, more uniform and more predictable high quality concrete. It retards the setting time to facilitate placing and finishing. SikaPlast R 8309 is compatible with all cements meeting recognised international standards.

  • Good water reduction - Improves watertight-ness. Greater durability. Increases compressive, flexural and bond strengths.
  • Good workability - Easier placement.
  • Good cohesion - Reduces segregation.
  • In comparison to plain concrete, a mix containing SikaPlast R 8309 develops higher early and ultimate strengths while having retarded setting characteristics.

Usage

  • All types of concrete where retardation of set and improved performance are required.
  • Improving pumped concrete and conventionally placed concrete.
  • Improving plain, reinforced, precast, prestressed, light weight or standard weight concrete.

Application Information

Dispensing

SikaPlast R 8309 can be added into the mixing water or can be added to the wet concrete after the mixing water has been added. The addition of SikaPlast R 8309 to a dry concrete mix is not recommended. A separate dispenser and feed line must be used.
Consumption

Recommended dosage

SikaPlast R 8309 is recommended for use at a dosage rate of 250-450ml per 100 kg of cementitious materials. Variations in the job conditions and concrete making materials employed may require dosage rates outside the recommended range.
