SikaPlast® R 8388

(former MasterPolyheed® R 8388)

A retarding performance enhancing concrete admixture

SikaPlast R 8388 is a ready-to-use liquid admixture for making superior and consistently uniform quality concrete. Selective retarders are incorporated in the formulation to facilitate placing and finishing. SikaPlast R 8388 is compatible with all cements meeting recognised international standards.

  • Good water reduction - Helps in achieving better durability. Increases compressive, flexural and bond strengths. Additionally, improves watertightness.
  • Good workability - Easier pumpability & placement.
  • Good cohesion - Reduces segregation.
  • In comparison to plain concrete, a mix containing SikaPlast R 8388 develops higher early and ultimate strengths while having retarded setting characteristics.

Usage

  • Generally, various types of concrete where set retardation and superior performance are required.
  • Improving quality of conventionally placed concrete and pumped concrete.
  • Improving plain, reinforced, precast, prestressed, light weight or standard weight concrete.

Application Information

Dispensing

SikaPlast R 8388 can be added into the mixing water, or can be added to the wet concrete after the mixing water has been added. The addition of SikaPlast R 8388 to a dry concrete mix is not recommended. A separate dispenser and feed line must be used.
Consumption

Recommended dosage

SikaPlast R 8388 is recommended for use at a dosage rate of 300-600ml per 100 kg of cementitious materials. The optimum dosage of SikaPlast R 8388 is dependant on various factors including materials and conditions that would be experienced at site. Variations in the job conditions and concrete making materials employed may require dosage rates outside the recommended range.

Consult your Sika representative for assistance in determining the rate dosage.
