Sika® Stabilizer-2132 TBM

First-fill, tail sealant grease for shielded TBMs

Sika® Stabilizer-2132 TBM is a first-fill, tail sealant grease for shielded TBM equipped with a metal brush system. It is formulated to resist high water and ground pressures, has very good pumping properties, and adheres very well to all types of surfaces.

Usage

Sika® Stabilizer-2132 TBM is used for:
  • Sealing and protecting the metal brushes located in the tail shield before TBM start-up.

Storage conditions

The Product must be stored in original, unopened and undamaged sealed packaging in dry conditions at temperatures between +5 °C and +35 °C. Always refer to the packaging.

Consumption

Average consumption to fill a three-row brush system is 50 kg/m of shield circumference.

Consumption depends on site conditions before the TBM excavation, and the condition of the metal brushes.

Application steps

APPLICATION

  1. IMPORTANT Avoid discharge of the Product into the environment. Before starting up the TBM, apply the Product onto the metal brushes with a grease pump. Make sure the grease pump is as close as possible to the TBM.

    Note: Keep the grease temperature above +15 °C during application.

  2. Perform the initial filling with a separate flexible pumping hose (minimum diameter 2"). Make sure that there is no obstruction or bottleneck after the pump.

      Note: Fit a flat tube to the end of the hose in order to ease the filling operation and ensure not to damage the brushes.
