2019
Mexico
Automobile manufacturing has seen extensive growth over recent years with plant expansions to provide domestic production. With the explosion of electric vehicles, we are also seeing the major automakers pivot and invest in greenfield electric vehicle production facilities. When news came out that a new 60,000 square meter greenfield site in Mexico was being planned, the Sika team formed quickly, with counterparts in Mexico and the US, to begin working on the project.
Project Requirements & Sika Solutions
Initial contact with the manufacturer and lead architect, GALA Architects located in the US, took place in early 2019. Soon thereafter, meetings and presentations were set with GALA to discuss Roofing and Flooring solutions. These initial meetings provide opportunities to problem-solve and address specific project challenges or requirements. The Sika Sarnafil PVC roof system was a specified and preferred roofing system for this project based on previous experience with this roofing system, its exceptional performance and environmental leadership.
With a global product manufacturer, like Sika, projects like this benefit from the support offered in the country of design, in this case the USA, as well as the country of construction, Mexico. Sika’s local team in Mexico concurrently worked with local project contacts and identified approved installers for the design and construction team’s consideration. Sika’s Global Key Project Management approach provides this type of support and more from the conceptual design phase through construction.
