Usage

Sikanol® is added to the mixing water prior to its addition to the cement : sand mix to provide high quality mortar for :
  • Brickwork and blockwork mortar
  • Cement sand renders and plasters

Technical Information

Concreting Guidance

The standard rules of good mortar/concreting practice, concerning production and placing, are to be followed.
Laboratory trials shall be carried out before concreting on site, especially when using a new mix design or producing new concrete components.
Fresh mortar/concrete must be cured properly and curing applied as early as possible.

Compatibility

Sikanol® may be combined with many other Sika products.
Important: Always conduct trials before combining products in specific mixes and contact our Technical Service Department for information and advice about any specific combinations.

Dispensing

Sikanol® is added to the gauging water or added with it into the mortar/concrete mixer.

Restrictions

  • When using Sikanol® a suitable mix design has to be taken into account and local material sources shall be trialled.
  • Sikanol® shall not be added to dry cement.
  • Overdosing may increase the entrained air which will give higher workability and a longer working life but lower compressive strength.
  • Saturated bricks/blocks may cause a delay in setting/curing.
  • Support from our Technical Service Department is recommended.
  • Frost: If frozen and / or if precipitation has occurred, Sikanol® may be used after thawing slowly at room temperature followed by intensive remixing.

Equipment

Clean all tools and application equipment with water immediately after use. Hardened / cured material can only be removed mechanically.
