Note :

1. A Big Slab is defined as a tile where at least one side measures greater than 150 cm.

2. This is an average calculation. Actual usage may differ from the estimate. Due to the different surface conditions. Surface absorption and the purpose of the individual’s use.

3. For the tile size larger than 40x40 cm, apply tile adhesive on the surface and on the back of the tile.
Application steps

MIXING

  • Mix SikaTile®-470 XXL Big Slab with 6.25 – 7.0 Litres of clean water with an electric mixer using a low speed (~300-600 rpm) electric mixer until a completely homogeneous and lump-free mix is achieved.
  • Allow the mixture to stand for 3-5 minutes for a good reaction and reduce air bubbles before using the adhesive.
  • The resulting mix has a very creamy consistency and is easy to apply and spread.

APPLICATION

  • Spread tile adhesive by using a notched trowel onto the substrate.
  • Apply sufficient product to ensure complete ‘wetting’ of the back of the tiles.
  • Tiling must be carried out on freshly applied

    adhesive, applying adequate pressure to ensure

    complete and uniform contact with the adhesive

    and thus optimum bond. If a film forms on the

    surface, the adhesive has been left for too long;

    if this happens, immediately remove the adhesive

    layer with the trowels, discard the material, and

    apply a fresh layer of SikaTile®-470 XXL Big Slab

    adhesive.

  • Avoid application in direct sunlight and/or strong wind/or draughts.
  • SikaTile®-470 XXL Big Slab is suitable for laying absorbent and non-absorbent tiles indoors without any size limits. Use support if necessary.
  • To lay any tiles larger than 1,600 cm2 (e.g., 50 x 50 cm), the double-spreading (buttering) technique is always recommended.
  • Once the tiles have been laid, leave them to stand for 24 hours or until the tile adhesive is dry before grouting with SikaTile Tile Grout.
