Green Industry is an approach to industrial development that focuses on economic growth alongside environmental and social responsibility. This is achieved by using resources efficiently, reducing waste and pollution from production processes, and promoting clean technology and sustainable innovation.
This concept is supported by both domestic and international organizations, such as the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Thai Ministry of Industry. The Thai Ministry of Industry has developed the Green Industry certification system (Level 1–5) as a tool to measure and elevate the sustainability of the Thai manufacturing sector.
Key principles of the Green Industry include:
Efficient use of energy and resources
Reduction of greenhouse gas emissions
Systematic waste management
Engagement of employees and the community
Development of environmental innovations
Sika (Thailand) has always recognized the importance of conducting business in an environmentally responsible manner. All three of Sika’s production facilities in Thailand — Chonburi, Saraburi, and Rayong — have been certified as Level 4 Green Industry by the Ministry of Industry.
Sika focuses on developing and improving production processes to reduce energy consumption, waste, and environmental impact. The company also promotes the use of alternative raw materials, recycling, and alternative energy sources to create long-term sustainability for the construction industry.
