Sika Thailand supporting Operation Smile Foundation to conduct the medical mission in Maesot, Tak between 6-9 February 2023. This mission is to provide smiles and life opportunities to children and adults who suffered from cleft lips, cleft palates, burns, and facial deformities with free of charges.
Cleft lip and cleft palate It is caused by abnormality of fetal development during the first 3 months of pregnancy. This has many causes, such as genetics or environment, illness of the mother during pregnancy, receiving certain drugs that affect the fetus statistics in Thailand show that 1 in 450 babies are born with a cleft lip or cleft palate, both, or approximately 1,500 people per year. Treatment requires a team of medical experts in many fields. and had undergone surgery many times.
In 2023, Sika Thailand donated to “Operation Smile Foundation” 2 million baht and participated in mobile medical mission 2 times in 2 provinces, Phayao (February) ans Tak (November)
The mission was completed successfully, the result from this medical mission is 62 patients were screened, and 41 patients received surgeries. 11 Sika’s volunteers from management and staff joined the mission, gave their hands to support non-medical work.
