New Heating System for Powder Dryers
In the past, 5 powder dryers at the Zurich production facilities were heated with heat transfer oil. Due to the wide network of pipes inside and outside the buildings and the indirect heating via heat exchangers, considerable amounts of energy were lost.
In 2022. the heat transfer oil network of the dryers was replaced by electrically heated modules located next to each dryer. This change led to a reduction of energy supply by 5.4 % and contributed to CO2 emission savings of 190 tons per year, 33 % of total CO2 emissions compared with the former heat transfer oil equipment.
